Rooted in History

In the heart of Door County since 1892

Origins

For more than 130 years, this storefront has been a fixture here, on this peninsula of small villages, quiet woods and deep water, rock ledges, pebble beaches and fields of fruit trees. Once upon a time, Fish Creek General Store received goods delivered by boat, transported across the waters of Green Bay. The basement was a hardware store, while a butcher shop and grocery operated on the main floor. Living quarters for the shop owners were upstairs. The Market has always been family-owned and operated and continues in this way today.

Connection

We're so proud to continue the tradition: studying the past, embracing the present, and continuing to evolve and grow as we look to the future. We’ve always been inspired by the way that good food and genuine hospitality nurture and connect. After decades of work in restaurants and retail with a special focus on small farms and producers, our stewardship of Fish Creek Market began in 2020. Our intention is to create a welcoming space for our guests to discover delicious food products and to foster meaningful connections to this unique place.

Community

Step inside the Market and against a backdrop of original finishes and fixtures, you'll find a modern array of local goods, thoughtful gifts, useful supplies, artisanal foods and grocery essentials, including an excellent selection of gluten free and vegan options; plus a diverse inventory of wine, beer & fine spirits.

This a gathering place and a reflection of many of the most wonderful aspects of Door County: generations of caring people, warm hospitality and a creative, independent spirit.
